Concrete Crack & Joint Sealing (Silicone & Polysulfide)
Engineered expansion and contraction joint protection for airport aprons, highways, and industrial slabs.

Technical Overview & Method Purpose
Rigid concrete pavements used in airports, logistics parks, and highway toll plazas depend entirely on properly designed and sealed expansion joints. Unsealed joints allow stones and incompressible sand to pack the joint when concrete contracts; when slabs expand in summer, tremendous crushing pressure causes catastrophic spalling and corner blowups. Marathon Sealing utilizes specialized diamond reservoir saws and high-elongation silicone and polysulfide sealants that resist aircraft jet fuels and harsh chemicals.
Engineering Specifications
Executed using genuine Crafco polymer sealants and hot melters with full compliance certification for RTA, MoEI, and municipality tenders.

Old Sealant Removal & Reservoir Resawing: Diamond blades saw out deteriorated sealant and true up joint sidewalls.
Grit Blasting & Air Sweeping: Exposes clean, solid concrete aggregate for maximum chemical adhesion.
Backer Rod Placement: Insertion of closed-cell polyethylene foam rod to establish the required 1:1 or 2:1 depth-to-width ratio and prevent 3-sided adhesion.
Sealant Application & Tooling: Extrusion of ultra-low modulus silicone or fuel-resistant polysulfide sealant slightly recessed below the concrete surface.
